Have a Hook, Little Fishy: A Flash Fiction Challenge

Standard

The wonderful Mr. Wendig posted a new Flash Fiction Challenge today.  I threw mine in the comments, but I wanted to put it here as well.  The details of the challenge are posted in his blog, but the overall goal is to write a single sentence opening hook for a book.

Here’s mine:  I winced as the sharp bite of a needle stung the skin of my upper arm, flooding my bloodstream with the antitoxins that would keep me from transforming.

What do you think? Would you read on, based on that opening sentence?
Did you post a reply to his blog? What was your one-liner?
